The Save on Energy BizEnergySaver program is designed to help industrial, commercial and institutional (ICI), and multi-residential building owners and operators make equipment improvements to reduce their energy consumption. The program helps address local electricity system constraints in the Richview South area in Toronto, by offering upfront incentives to install LED upgrades, adaptive lighting controls in areas such as exit stairwells and parking garages, high bay lighting upgrades and controls, variable frequency drives (VFDs) for pump systems, fans, and garage exhaust fan controls.

The list of eligible measures and their corresponding instant discount amounts are provided in the Program Requirements. The program also offers a free assessment to identify energy-efficiency opportunities and installation of agreed-upon measures. Under the updated list of eligible measures, the following measures are now free*:
Significant instant discounts are available for other lighting and VFD measures.
*There may be some costs that are not covered by the BizEnergySaver Program (e.g., additional wiring, by-pass for VFD, certain TSSA costs, etc.)
The list of eligible measures was updated in May 2023 to offer additional measures and higher instant discount amounts. These changes were made based on feedback received from program participants and BizEnergySaver program delivery partners to achieve deeper peak demand savings through the program.
There is no cost to receive an assessment. After the assessment, you will receive a report of the recommended upgrades, their costs, the instant discount amounts, and the remaining amount payable to have the equipment installed under the program.
However, there may be some costs associated with the upgrade that would not be covered by the BizEnergySaver Program, such as additional wiring, by-pass for VFD, certain TSSA costs, among others.
You do! Qualified Save on Energy representatives will conduct a free assessment of your business to identify all eligible upgrades for your facility. You will have an opportunity to review these upgrades and to then agree to or decline any of them after the assessment and before the upgrades are installed.
Yes, separate assessments are conducted; however, they may be scheduled at the same time if that is more convenient. Lighting assessments and installations are conducted by qualified Save on Energy representatives who are lighting specialists. Mechanical system assessments and installations are conducted by qualified Save on Energy representatives who are mechanical system specialists.
Your old lighting equipment will be removed and disposed of by the Save on Energy representatives who install the new equipment. Environmentally harmful substances will be recycled or disposed of in a responsible manner, in accordance with legal requirements.
In some cases, your existing equipment may be modified to install the upgrade. For example, Save on Energy contractors will upgrade your parking garage exhaust fan by adding a carbon monoxide sensor and controls.
Only qualified Save on Energy contractors are permitted to install eligible equipment under the BizEnergySaver Program. To save you time and eliminate any potential concerns around the quality of the installations, Save on Energy has prequalified the vendors.
While there shouldn’t be any issues with the newly installed equipment under the program, if you have concerns about the quality of the work done, you can call 1-833-934-0778 or email lighting@bizenergysaver.ca for newly installed lighting equipment, and mechanical@bizenergysaver.ca for newly installed mechanical equipment, and you will receive a response promptly.
Save on Energy is committed to ensuring the safety of our customers and communities. Save on Energy representatives will follow the more stringent of either your building’s or Ontario’s health and safety requirements.
