Monitoring and Targeting program

Gain a better understanding of your energy use.

Find out where you stand before making investments into your energy efficiency.

Ever wonder just how energy efficient your business is? To answer that, you need to measure your energy consumption relative to other measures, like units of production. Once you do that, you’ll have a benchmark. The next step is to make changes to operational processes that will reduce your energy use.

Your facility energy manager can use historical energy consumption data to make changes and increase your overall energy efficiency by between five and 10 per cent.

You can receive funding from your local hydro company that will cover 80 per cent of the actual eligible costs, up to $75,000 per site less any third-party contributions, for the purchase, installation and implementation of an operational monitoring and targeting system. Your company must contribute a minimum of 20 per cent of the actual project costs.

Who can receive incentives?

To be eligible, your company must meet these requirements:

  • The facility must have a resident energy manager to ensure the monitoring and targeting system is managed;
  • By the second year of operation, the facility must demonstrate a 0.2 MW x facility load factor x 8,760 hours in energy savings;
  • The participant must commit to implementing projects that have a payback period of less than one year; and
  • The participant must agree to provide annual reports of opportunities implemented as a result of the monitoring and targeting system, for a period of five years.
