Monitoring and Targeting program

Helping your customers gain a better understanding of their energy use.

Your customer needs to know where they stand before making investments in their energy efficiency. Tell them how Save on Energy’s Monitoring and Targeting program can help.

Has your customer ever wondered just how efficient their business is? To answer that, they need to measure their energy consumption relative to other measures, like units of production. Then they’ll have a benchmark. The next step is to make changes to operational processes, so they can reduce their energy use.

The facility energy manager can then use historical energy consumption data to make changes and increase overall energy efficiency by between five to 10 per cent.

Quick tips

Your customer can receive funding from their local hydro company towards 80 per cent of actual eligible costs per site to purchase, install, and make a monitoring and targeting system operational.

This is less any third-party contributions of up to $75,000, and your customer must contribute a minimum of 20 per cent of the actual project cost.

Who can receive incentives?

To be eligible, your customer's company must meet the following requirements:

  • The facility must have a resident energy manager to ensure the monitoring and targeting system is managed;
  • The facility must demonstrate by the end of the second year of operation 0.2 MW in peak demand savings and 0.2 MW x facility load factor x 8,760 hours in energy savings;
  • The participant must commit to implementing projects that have a payback period of less than one year; and
  • The participant must agree to provide annual reports of opportunities implemented as a result of the monitoring and targeting system for a period of five years.

How to apply

Your customer must contact the local hydro company to get started. Enter your customer's postal code below to find it.
