The HomeSealSaver program is designed to help residents of Belle River and surrounding areas boost the efficiency of their home's energy with up to $1,360 in discounts available for the installation of air sealing, HVAC tune-ups or improvements, and insulation upgrades.
HomeSealSaver is a Save on Energy local initiative program, which means it is a program available in a targeted area of the province in which electricity constraints have been identified.

Available discounts
A home efficiency assessment must be performed to confirm eligibility for the program. In addition, all upgrades and improvements must be completed by program-approved contractors.

Eligibility
The home must:
- Be a single-family home, i.e., a townhouse, detached or semi-detached home.
- Not have undergone major renovations within the past 5 years.
- Major renovations include: window and door replacements, roof replacement, and significant insulation upgrades. For more information, contact the HomeSealSaver team.
- For the air conditioner tune-up offer, the AC unit must be operational and must not have been serviced in the past two years.
- For the air conditioner replacement offer, the unit must be operational and at least 10 years old.
- For the attic insulation upgrade offer, the existing insulation must be rated at R-20 or lower. The actual insulation rating will be determined through the assessment.
- Be located in the Belle River or surrounding area.

In light of the postal code changes in the Belle River area, the HomeSealSaver program will continue to accept applications for homes whose previous postal codes are part of the program’s list of eligible areas.
How it works
STEP 1:
Fill out the participant intake form online and indicate the offers you are interested in receiving.
STEP 2:
Your application will be assessed for eligibility. If you and your home are eligible, you will be contacted to schedule a preliminary home assessment.
STEP 3:
The home assessor will walk through your home, make observations and collect equipment data. They will provide:
- A list of offers the home is eligible for
- A list of program-approved contractors
- A work order to start the process
STEP 4:
Once you have decided which upgrades you would like to move forward with, you can either:
- Ask the HomeSealSaver team for help getting quotes from program-approved contractors and assistance in selecting a contractor.
- Take the lead by getting quotes directly from program-approved contractors, then let the HomeSealSaver team know which contractor you have selected.
The eligible savings will be applied to the quote and appear as a discount.
STEP 5:
Book your installation within 30 business days of selecting your contractor, and they'll complete the work on your appointment date.

Frequently asked questions
The Save on Energy HomeSealSaver Program offers incentives to residents in the Belle River area for approved energy-efficiency upgrades that will be incentivized directly at the point of sale. These upgrades include air sealing, insulation, and air conditioning tune-ups and replacements.
A participant in the program must:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Reside in an area with one of the following postal codes:

- Own the residence where the eligible measures will be installed.
- Enter into a Participant Agreement with the IESO, and sign a work order no later than December 31, 2024.
The residence must:
- Be a detached, semi-detached or townhouse single-family home located in the program zone.
- Be at least 10 years old.
- Not have undertaken any major upgrades or building envelope improvements (window replacements, insulation upgrades, air barrier replacement, exterior siding/insulation and/or air conditioning equipment) in the last 5 years.

Replace existing central AC with ENERGY STAR® high-efficiency unit |
This measure involves replacing an old AC with a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) of 12 [or Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) of 10 or lower] with a new one with SEER of 20 (EER 14.4) or higher. The contractor will also investigate the opportunity to resize the equipment if air sealing and attic insulation are also completed. |

Attic Insulation Upgrade |
This measure involves the assessment of the current insulation level, its R-value, and adding more insulation to increase the R-value to a minimum of R-50. |

The application is to be submitted by December 31, 2024, and installation is to be completed by February 13, 2025. The installed measures must not replace existing equipment that was previously incented by the IESO or the Government of Ontario.
You must use a registered contractor in the program. Contractors are approved to complete the eligible measure installations for the Save on Energy HomeSealSaver Program. For a list of the program approved list, please contact info@HomeSealSaver.ca.
Your contractor should contact info@HomeSealSaver.ca to request approval to participate in the program. A program advisor will contact them within a few business days to determine their eligibility.
The purpose of the preliminary home assessment, which includes a site visit, is to assess your house and identify potential energy-saving opportunities that will lead to HomeSealSaver measures being installed in your home. The assessor will make a list of the eligible measures that are recommended to be installed.
The assessor will examine the following:
- review your HVAC equipment, as well as building envelope upgrades such as window replacements, insulation upgrades, roofing, etc.
- your air conditioning equipment
- your attic to measure existing insulation levels
- other areas of the house for a visible inspection of potential air leaks.
The assessor will then make recommendations to the homeowner on what eligible measures from the HomeSealSaver program should be installed to increase your home’s energy efficiency, along with a roster of program-approved contractors. Participants can contact these contractors to obtain quotes for the recommended measures.

We recommend reaching out to the contractors as soon as you are provided with the list of available contractors.
Yes! You will be provided with a list of available contractors participating in this program. You will need to obtain estimates for each eligible measure you want to have installed. You may obtain quotes from multiple contractors for the same measure to ensure you are choosing the right contractor for you.
The contactors will invoice you for their services, adding the discount equivalent to the incentive amount right on your bill.
To be eligible to participate, the prospective contractor must:
- Execute a Trade Ally Agreement with the Program Delivery Agent.
- Complete training on program requirements and eligible measures
- Maintain the necessary licences and registrations required by the Safety Standards Act of Ontario, to carry on business as a contractor, as defined by that Act, and all other licences, registrations, permits and authorities as required by any legislation or any governmental, municipal, regulatory or licensing authority.
- Carry Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) coverage and third-party disability coverage, and is willing and able to install and/or implement HomeSealSaver Program eligible measures in accordance with all applicable laws.
