Project Incentives

Move your large-scale process and system energy efficiency project forward with Save on Energy Process & Systems Project Incentives.

If you have a complex upgrade project at your facility, you can gain up to 70 per cent of costs back through project incentives.

Project incentives are available for a variety of energy-saving projects. Whether you are installing variable frequency drives on your motors, generating electricity from waste energy recovery or redesigning your entire system, there is an incentive available.

Eligibility

To be eligible for project incentives, your organization must operate a single facility that is connected to a local hydro company distribution network. The proposed project must be in service before December 31, 2020 and provide annualized electricity savings of more than 300 MWh.

Please note that the following projects do not qualify for project incentives unless otherwise approved in writing by the local hydro company: lighting, demand response or fuel-switching projects.

How to get started

The application process for project incentives is outlined below. Please contact your local hydro company to find a representative who can provide you with relevant documents and assist you in completing your application.

Step 1:

Contact your local hydro company. An account manager will assist you throughout the application process.

Step 2:

Complete and submit the Project Application in the Application Workbook along with your supporting information (e.g. Engineering Feasibility Study) and electricity bills, or billing data, to your local hydro company. Your local hydro company will then submit your application for technical review. If any application details are missing or additional data is required, the technical reviewer may request this information from you.

Step 3:

Once the review is complete, you will receive a project approval letter and measurement and verification plan.

Step 4:

Once the contract is signed, you can begin construction on your project.
