The CoolSaver program helps you improve your home comfort levels by improving indoor cooling and humidity control. In addition, you may save on your utility bills because increasing the energy efficiency of your cooling equipment helps reduce your electricity consumption during the summer season, when electricity demand is at its highest.
To participate in the CoolSaver program, you must be at least 18 years old and reside in Toronto's Richview South area, York Region or Ottawa. You also must enter into a Participation Agreement and sign a Work Order no later than December 31, 2024. You must implement the eligible measures no later than December 31, 2025.
The Richview South area of Toronto, York Region and Ottawa have been selected as areas of the province with identified electricity system needs. The CoolSaver program was developed to enable residential customers in these regions to lower their energy consumption and costs, and to lower overall demand for electricity to help maintain a reliable electricity system in their community. For more information, visit the Local Initiatives page on SaveonEnergy.ca.
Call 1-855-210-4001 or complete the Participant Intake Form. You will receive a response from our program service provider within five business days with next steps.

There is no cost to participate in the CoolSaver program. However, as the financial incentive offered for the eligible measures may not fully cover the proposed services and equipment, participants may need to pay the difference to their contractors.
You do! Your selected qualified Save on Energy contractor will conduct an assessment of your existing equipment. You will have an opportunity to review the proposed upgrades and then agree to or decline any of them before the service begins.
Your selected CoolSaver qualified contractor will ensure that the existing equipment and any resulting waste products from the removal of existing equipment and installation of eligible measures are removed and disposed of appropriately at a municipal decommissioning facility. If there are any additional disposal costs, the participant is responsible for reimbursing the contractor and this will be clearly indicated on your invoice.
Yes, as long as your preferred contractor is a qualified CoolSaver contractor. Only qualified CoolSaver contractors are permitted to install and service eligible equipment in the CoolSaver program. If your preferred contractor is not yet qualified, please direct them to sign up by emailing contractors@coolsaver.ca.
This is intended to save you time and eliminate any potential concerns about the quality of the installations. CoolSaver-qualified contractors undergo training and regular quality assurance checks to ensure a uniform, high-quality experience for all program participants. Using an approved contractor means you are working with someone trained in industry best practices and who is subject to ongoing quality assurance evaluations.
While there shouldn’t be any issues with the newly installed equipment or any services provided under the program, if you have concerns about the quality of the work done, please call 1-855-210-4001, or email info@coolsaver.ca. You will receive a response from a Save on Energy representative within five business days.
We require your full name, residential address, email, and phone number to contact you and determine your eligibility. The collected information is only visible to the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) and the IESO's CoolSaver delivery partner. This information is also used in the quality assurance process for qualified contractor for evaluation and verification and with IESO subcontractors to perform evaluation and customer satisfaction surveys. All personal information is held in the strictest confidence according to our privacy policy.
